The key ideas and details of Reading Informational text are very interesting. For the 11 and 12 graders, they must be able to determine where texts leave matters uncertain. That is the only difference between the 9th and 10th portion and the 11th and 12th. The second rule is the exact same for each of the groups. In the 3rd rule, there only have to be a certain level of complexity in the older students. That makes a lot of sense to me. In terms of the craft and structure of the reading of informational texts, there are more small differences. The second point has the ideas for the earlier grades and more complex structural discussion for older. The other points just get more specific as students get older. For the first point in the integration section, the older students must be more specific. They have to integrate and evaluate instead of analyzing the information. The second and third are just a further understanding of the topic. They have to be up to grade level according to these standards, what a surprise. The key ideas for reading literature are quite a bit different. The first point includes the older students knowing where the text is uncertain. They also have to be able to find more than one theme. The younger students only had to find one. Younger students must say why the characters impact the authors choices. The older students have to do the opposite. The first point in the craft in structure section has one difference. The older students must use bigger words. The meaning is more important in the second. The younger students must know how they show emotion, not meaning. The third and final of this section involves culture for younger students and understanding point of view wherever it lies for the older ones. The integration of knowledge and ideas have been very different. They must have the chance to analyze the stories through two different media. Younger students must analyze the source material. The older must demonstrate the knowledge of these texts. They must go more in depth. The only difference is the more specific knowledge older students must have.
